A daily classroom habit for critical thinking and kindness, with a complete edition and support for the teacher guiding it.
20 minutes at the start of each school day
One or more complete grades, using the Grades 5–6, 7–8 or 9–12 edition
A class teacher, one shared screen or projector, reliable internet and ordinary notebooks
One two-hour introductory session, then about 2 minutes before each class
Start from November 2026 and continue until the academic year ends. December and January starts can also be considered.
No programme or teacher-training charges
Newsling provides a two-hour introductory training session and practical guidance to help teachers lead classroom discussions. Each daily edition comes with a ready-to-use story, questions and activities, requiring about two minutes of preparation.
Teachers bring the experience to life. They encourage participation, make room for different perspectives and help students listen to one another with curiosity and respect.
After 66 Newsling sessions, students in two Grade 5 classes were compared with students in two other Grade 5 classes at the same school. This comparison shows an association with Newsling participation. It did not include a baseline assessment or random assignment and does not, by itself, establish causation.
Critical thinking
Significantly Higher
Kindness
Significantly Higher
Both differences were statistically significant.

“Newsling is a fun thing that should happen at every school in the morning.”
Rounded, self-reported findings from one school. They describe students’ experience rather than measured learning gains.
“I’ve seen students who rarely raise their hands begin to do so during Newsling. They pause before speaking, explain their thinking with greater care and carry that confidence into regular lessons, where they participate, ask questions and give reasons for their answers.”
